Making standoffs from a backspacer

Hey guys. I was thinking about getting a couple of standoffs for my Benchmade 707, to replace the backspacer. I just like the look of the flow through design much better. The problem is that the only ones I could find to fit come in silver only. I'm not sure that this would look good on the knife since the original backspacer is black. I was thinking about just painting them with black grill paint, but then I got an idea. I could just take out the original backspacer, and cut out two pieces where the screw holes are, and just sand them round. Then I have two black plastic backspacers. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this, and how it worked out. Thanks.

Try it and leave enough material to get a substantial spacer without any cracks or gouges in the material. Worse case scenario is you have to buy some metal standoffs and use them. Sounds easy enough and should look great when done. Good luck and let us see some pictures when you get er done.

Blessings,

Omar

Haven't done this, tho I do make standoffs. I see no issues save possibly stability, as the 6/6 nylon you're working w/ has a bit of flex. But w/ a small knife, that shouldn't be an issue..

Havent heard of that but sounds like a good idea! Really interested on how these will turn out!
