Making sure edge is cetered?

The other day I decided to put a mirror polished bevel on my Miitary, because it was a larger blade, and CTS-XHP, I decided to just match the factory bevels which I think are around 12-13* per side. After I got it done I put a microbevel on it. The right side of the edge bevel appears to be a tad shorter I think. Eyeballing the edge it appears to be pretty centered. So it seems eveb if its. A tad off centered it isn't a huge amount. So is there anything to worry about here?

That is fairly typical of Spyderco. I am a huge fan and will remain so...probably forever. But their edges are always a little imperfect in that sense. The cut like crazy. Most of mine are like that to one degree or another.

I don't worry 'cause they cut like crazy.

Once you really start looking close at blades, you'll begin to notice virtually all of them are somewhat asymmetrical, from one side to the other. The factory grind often leaves the steel thicker to one side of the centerline, than on the other. On a perfectly centered edge (directly below the centerline of the spine), the 'thicker' side will have a wider bevel (measured from edge to shoulder), and the thinner side's bevel will be narrower. Not a big deal at all, in terms of functionality. Just a cosmetic issue, and it's very, very common. Most often seen at or near the tip, and sometimes can easily be seen where the edge intersects the ricasso (often very noticeably off-center there).

Thanks David. I think the only knife I can say that seems perfectly ground is a Tom Krein I have. I have definitely noticed when the blades are a bit off showing at the ricasso. Glad to know its not an issue in use. And thanks Hoosier.
