Making the Griltilian less...... Grippy

I haven't carried a Griptilian in a long time, and am re-discovering this great model. I am also re-discovering that it shreds my pockets very efficiently :). It seems like it would be simple enough to smooth the scales under the pocket clip with a file or sandpaper. Has anyone encountered any issues with smoothing out these scales? The model I want to quit feeding my pockets to is the 550HG with Noryl GTX handles.

Thank you in advance for any advice!

I was actually just thinking similar things. Love the model but I hate the grippy part of it.

I replaced the scales with DOAT's scales.

Or if it is simply a matter about the scale and clip
pinch point.
I used 320grit paper. Cut a section the same width as the clip
approximately 4" long.
Put under clip and pull through till you have
the desired result of user tension.

I sanded the bumps down on my Grip, helped immensely. With the pocket clip on I used tape to cordon off the area that needed sanding, then used a medium grit (400) lansky stone to flatten the bumps in the area. Still had good retention but slid smoothly off my pocket. No problems what so ever, maybe don't go to deep? Shouldn't be a problem though if you just knock off the bumps.

Thanks uxo2 and kniferbro, nice to hear the retention is still good after sanding too.

Thanks again for the replies. I removed the clip and used a thin strip of 220 grit sandpaper. Lightly went over the surface of the clip side of the handle, removing the bumps until it felt smooth. Took about 10 minutes total, including removing/re-installing the clip. The retention is still good, and it feels like it definitely won't be eating my pockets anymore. Aesthetically it looks the same as pre-sanding as well.
