I thought i was a genius for about a day and a half, but I just saw it mentioned on bushcraftusa that it's been done before. Oh well, still pretty nifty.
The other day I decided to try an idea I hade.
I set up a double boiler, and put in an old candle that no one wanted.
btw, credits to Mom for allowing this rampant abuse of her cookware.

WHen the wax was all melted...

I dipped in lenghts of jute twine and layed them out straight to dry.

Then I cut them up into 1.5" lenghts to go in tinder capsules.
Here's how they work...
In a kit with a lighter, and how to light them with a firesteel.
