Hi Bladeforums.

I'm a new member here.

Does anybody know how to make your own strider stripes/camo design on a stainless steel blade with household products? I tried it with a lighter, but the finish would rub off really quickly. Any tips?

Not sure if it can be done with household supplies (unless its a carbon steel blade). As for non-household items, I think it can be done with Duracoat or a similar product.

I hope it wasn't an expensive knife since there is a good chance you got the blade to hot and tempered down the hardness of the blade. Did the very edge change color?

You could take spray paint and make strips. If you had access to a sand or bead blast cabinet that should work. Possibly mask the blade with something like wax and etching the rest in a chemical. It would help to know the model and blade steel.
