Making your own Variant (yikes!)

After buying a MOJO to experience its feel and utility I decided to sell it and replace it with Fusion tools. I also recently sold a MD VooDoo Cat, one of the finest fighters ever, since it's cross section was too thin to inspire confidence in a secondary urban combat role (my opinion). This leaves me with an opening in the Fighter/urban combat nitch, and I intend to modify a ZT-NO for this purpose. I have an EdgePro coming to help me with the angles, but does anybody have information on what abrasives or files to use (I'll be doing it without power tools). I want to sharpen and extend the false edge to about 4", and take some metal off the butt, possibly even taking off the rear talon hole. Also, can anybody reason why I might use a different shape based on their experience with NO varients' balance and swiftness. Thanks in advance, John
(I know I could just buy one, but this could be fun.)

John, If you do that much work on a ZT without power tools you will have passed the entrance exam for being Amish!!!! Let me know how it turns out. If you are successful, there will be a job waiting for you at the Busse shop!!!!!

Job at the shop?!! What about the rest of us? I can package knives for shipping like a mad man. I'll even weight them to make sure Busse doesn't lose money. If it's too heavy I'll just "lighten" the load ;)

That's a ballsy move -- make sure and get some Richardson files, and clean them out periodically to avoid "gouges" when you're filing. Good luck!

I'd start with the new Satin Jack. It may not even need work!

If you've gotta get a NO modified, I'd be inclined to have Jerry do it. Who better?

I do on the other hand know a really good Kydex guy for the completed knife! ;)

"Richardson"

Sorry about that, I meant Nicholson -- that was the Keystone talking yesterday. :D
