Ok, First the specs:

Weight: 23.4oz
Length: 18in
Thickness at spine:7/16"
Width at belly:1 5/8

First impressions:

The first thing I noticed was the handle. Perfectly done, Satisal with burl on one side. Buttcap is the best I have--flawless. Bolster, same. Blade also flawless and sharp enough to shave hair(arm not face;)).
The spine is flat, unlike most other khuks. I really like this look!

Also there is no "sword of shiva" to speak of. Only a nicely rounded and polished groove in its place--I also like this look.

Cho is like other Malla's, weird at first, but its growing on me:)

Karda and Chakma: Karda IS a KHUK, with beautiful burled handle! Even has a bolster! Perfect! Chakma is a chakma nicely done

Balance and Handling:

POB is 2.5" from front of bolster, but feels closer. The handle seems pretty beefy for a khuk this length which may account for it. Very agile and quick, yet with enough heft behind it to give potential as a light/medium chopper. This one feels more like a weapon to me, but one that would punch through some tought stuff to get at someone:)

The blade has a more distinctive forward curve than say the Chitlangi and Kobra (which are very close in this regard based on my 2 examples), but is like an AK in its Forward Curve

Overall:

A very different looking and feeling khukuri that IMHO really adds some spice to a collection (at least to my meager one). Its all subjective, but I would recommend this one highly:) It is an unusual khuk. It took me from last friday to decide on how I liked it to be able to post this review. It has grown on me quite a bit:D

Maui:

I've been looking for your post all week. I caught the KNN Malla PGA the day before you scored the Bura. I wasn't able to pick-up the package before I hit the road again, so I was wondering what I had to look forward to when I got home. Now I can't wait.

I've posted over and over that mine shouted "weapon" as soon as I picked it up. All the others have their "pesonalities", but there is a touch of something older, atavisic, in the Malla.

The Malla is based on an old design, back when hand to hand was the rule rather than the exception. I think it may have worked pretty well in that capacity.
