Just finished this one. Mallee is a eucalypt that grows in arid areas of Australia. It is really like a large bush with multiple single branches that sprout from a large root ball. The root ball is where the majority of any useable timber comes from and hard as all get out. Just thought yo all might be interested in that info. :D Umm where are we, oh yeah.
Specs
Forged 5160, 800 grit finish
BL 5 1/4", 133mm. OAL 11 1/4", 285mm. Thickness at Ricasso 0.2175", 5.5mm

Looking good there, Keith! The handle looks like it has a very comfortable palm-swell making for a good grip, but I REALLY like the guard treatment! I'm starting to enjoy the look of the 2 bevels ground into the sides of the guard like we see on Sam Lurquin and Nick Wheeler's knives from time to time. I know there are other makers who use that element as well, but Sam and Nick just instantly spring to mind. Did you use a rotary tool to stipple the stripe in the guard or a graver/stippling punch of some type?

Thanks Mike, The bevels add another dimension to the guard and makes it a bit more comfortable when doing some skinning operations. I used a rotary burr to do the stippling.
Cheers Keith
