MAM knives?

The are quite a few mentions of MAM here on the forum. Try searching for em. I'm in no position at the moment to assist any further. They are somewhat comparable to Opinel if I understand correctly.

Yes, I have a MAM folder. Made in Portugal. Very thin blade, liner lock. Sharpens up very well. Nice inexpensive knives, much like Opinels.

A couple of MAM with liner locks, and an Antonini Old Bear. Most MAM patterns also come as unembellished friction folders. The sheepsfoot Tipica is my bagel-and-cream-cheese knife.

About the size of an Opinel 8, these knives are flatter on the sides, and ride better in the pocket than an unmodified Opinel.

The locking collar on the Antonini rides inside the bolster and locks the blade both open and closed. I would really like to get my hands on the smaller version of this one.

I have a couple of MAM's and love them, they have decent steel, that is easily touched up, and those thin blades make great slicers.

I've got a sheepsfoot MAM with liner lock. I personally wouldn't get a friction folder MAM (or Opinel, or any that didn't have some other method of securing the blade). It's easy to sharpen, and to make very sharp. Edge retention is adequate for what the knife is. Like an Opinel, it's a working knife, easy to maintain, very inexpensive, and basically disposable should that time ever come.

I agree with Henry Beige's comments above, and have a couple of MAM models almost identical to his, except my sheepsfoot has no liner lock. I also second sitflyer's remarks (especially since Duane was essentially the major influence on my decision to purchase a couple of MAMs ;)). Here's a couple of comparison shots of MAMs and Opinels (#6 and #7) that I've posted before:
