I finished this folder up this morning and the sammai up last week.
The folder is Basket weave with barked mammoth ivory, gold plated screws
and damascus back spacer.
The fighter is sammai with oosic handle material, mild cold blued hardware. 52100 center core

I hope you like them.

Bill

You've got a couple of winners there. I like both of them.

You never tire in your endless pusuit to embarass every other knife maker on the planet! And you do it so nonchalantly, like...... "Hey guys, look what I whipped up this morning in between coffee and the morning crossword...." Is there anything you can't do? I suppose you also practice brain surgery on the side?

Man thouse are nice! I realy like the folder, I've got to get off my but and get a decent pattern made. Where do you find the time?!

Wow Bill,

Your folders keep getting cleaner and cleaner. And that Bowie is awesome.

How do you get the really good contrast with your damascus?
I etch mine in the ferric chloride and the pattern shows, ,not crisp and sharp like yours.

Both are very nice!

Great knives, as usual. That folder is very "loud," but in a good way. :D

Thank you all very much for the nice words.

Matt, I'm very humbled by your post. I just do the best I can and hope its good enough. When I look at other makers work on here, I often feel like I need to just give up for theirs is always so clean and well throughtout in every way. I just hope to get close to producing pieces as nice as the talent on BF some day.

Will, I'm lucky, I get to do this every day, no real job to get in the way. :D

Kelly, I hand sand to 1500 before I etch, etch in ferric chloride mixed 5 to 1. I etch 10 minutes sand with 1500, etch again, I do this 3 times, then neutralize with windex and scrub the steel with toothbrush loaded with toothpaste. This gets off all the black oxidation crap, then lightly buff with white compound. Thats all I do.

Thank you again,

Bill

Typical professional artistry that we've come to expect from you Bill. Very, very nice.

thanks for the eyecandy Bill :) and the wallpaper
Those are some fine looking blades. I'm not expecting any of my work to turn out like that anytime soon, but when i get close i'm gonna have to ask some pointers.

It's knifemakers like this that prevent me from showing my stuff on this board....Gosh, what beautiful work. Shaking my head.....

beautiful knife. you should experiment some more with mammoth bark. especially with the different colors you can get. i know Banyan Bay carries blue, brown, green, and white mammoth ivory bark.
