In the 1990s I bought over 25.000 ponds of ivory from a mine less than a mile away from where this video was taken. Most of the good stuff was sold to Rick Fields an no doubt some of it graces the knives of some who view this forum.
Unfortunately (for me) there is not much large scale placer mining going on in Alaska at this time. John is the largest land owner in Alaska and just plays around with mining.
