mammoth ivory on ebay

I just dipped into my Blade Show savings and snagged this on Ebay. Hopefully it is nice in person. Do you think it looks to curved, or is it suitable to send to a maker one day?

It is hard to tell from the image, but given the price and the color, I think you are shooting fish in the proverbial barrel.

You won't know for sure until you get a good look at it, but it sure looks good in the photos. I think you will be able to get a couple of decent sized scales. If you are thinking about folders, there might be enough there for two or three knives, depending on the size. Looking at the piece from the back, it looks really solid.

a piece that blue for that money is worth the bucks even if you have to use it for small folder scales or inlays, etc in my opinion.

Nice find Jon. Hard to tell from the photos how many if any scales you will get, however beautiful color.
If nothing else but an interesting Knick-knack to adorn your desk, it's sure worth what you paid.

Looks solid but it is pretty thin .22-.14 inches thick and the back looks cupped so it cannot be flattened out. It is a beautiful color and getting it in hand will be the only way to tell for sure if it is usable for a knife. Will make a nice scrim piece if it does not work out for a handle.
