howdy folks... how goes it... we're back from our trip... we had a blast and definately were not ready to come home... i have 300 some odd pics to go through.. i managed to pick out a few to share with you all.... i still have a bunch of gear to clean and put away...

we arrived in Mammoth thursday night around 11:30, got to our friend Greg's house and pretty much went to sleep.... we were all eager to wake up to the amazing scenery and start our day..the eastern Sierra's are absolutely gorgeous... there is so much to do for just about any outdoorsman.... this is Mammoth mtn... it sits at 11,053 ft. high in elevation... the town of Mammth Lakes is a little over 8,000 ft...

there is a ton of lakes to fish, as well as a few rivers near by... we fished just about every day... the fish were biting, though my older son and our friend Greg were the only ones to cath anything... the scenery is just too cool...
this is Convict Lake... we fished here on friday for a good portion of the day...

my trusty companion... i EDC my Izula and a SAK camper during my trip...

IMG_5491.jpg

i also finally got a chance to play with my RAT cutlery RC-4... i love it... it did just about all of our food prep while we were out and at Gregs house...

you can travel 45 minutes out of Mammoth and it slowly starts to turn in to desert... this area is at about 4,000 ft. in elevation... these dirt roads just go everywhere... it's sooo cool... there were a few spots that reminded me of Utah... this place was called Chidago Canyon... those are the White mountains looking in the background...

Awesome pics Mike. Looks like a spectacular time. Glad you are loving all that RC-goodness.......Really like the looks of that well loved Izula! However, the shot of your wife...sitting down, beer in one hand, book in the other and fishing rod set up ----well that takes the cake :D

the misses went crazy taking pics of all of the local flowers and plants...

IMG_5589.jpg

i love this shot...

IMG_5595.jpg

scattered all through out the lower desert areas are natural hot springs... we hit a few while we were there.... the views while soaking in these tubs are priceless...
this is a shot of Hot Creek, which recently had it's hot springs closed.... there are plenty more.. this is one of the bigger ones...

IMG_5610.jpg

being father day and my birthday and all, Greg and I got to squeeze in some mtn. bike rides... this place has some epic riding... here's a few shots...

IMG_5650.jpg

IMG_5646.jpg

we went spent the day down in one of the local valleys hiking and fishing...there is some amazing sites here...

this is Red's Meadow... i love this area.... the middle fork of the San Joaquin River flows through here...

IMG_5651.jpg

also in this area is the Devils Postpile, which has got to be one of the coolest things i have ever seen....

IMG_5659.jpg

more to come still.....................

Man! Looks like you had the very best bday a man coulda asked for. Right on for you and yours, Mike, that is a beautiful area.

you can hike up and around to the top of the Devils Postpile... isn't it cool... it looks like a tile floor...

IMG_5664.jpg

after checking out the D.P... we hiked on down to Rainbow falls, which is appropriately named, to have lunch... to get down to the falls you hike through an area that used to very dense and heavily wooded, until it was struck by lightning in 1992... 1 strike of lighning burned over 8,000 acres in this area.... it's pretty wild to see....

IMG_5671.jpg

IMG_5679.jpg

after lunch, we spent the rest of our day fishing, with no luck, at Sotcher Lake...
