hey folks.. here's some pics from our trip to Mammoth Lakes. we got in late last night...
we all had an awesome time.. the beauty of the Eastern Sirra's amazes me everytime i'm there..my boys never want to leave...
it's been a long day... i took over 300 pics and it was hard to pick through them all.. so here is a few.................................

we got in to our friend Greg's place around midnight Wed. night... it's about a 6.5-7 hour drive from our house...
we woke up and packed the car and heded out for some fishing... we spent the rest of the day fishing at Lake George, which as of 2.5 weeks ago, was still frozen... Lake George is about 9,000 ft. in elevation..

for the second year running, my older son pulled out a nice bounty from Lake George.. all nice pan size trout, 2 browns and one rainbow..

the next day we fished a smaller lake called Silver Lake, it's on the June Lake loop..
our friend Greg with a small little brown trout..

my cutlery for this trip.. Laconico/Wohlwend colab. (un-scandi) bushcrafter, Izula and my trusty SAK camper.. i also had mt BHK long trail in my pack. it saw a lot of food prep work..

this is what you see when you walk into out friend Greg's house.. we took our bows, but didn't get a chance to shoot them, we didn't have time this year, there is just far too much stuff to do.. we did shoot some guns..

more to come..

after fishing Silver Lake, we went out to one of the local shooting ranges, which is out in the middle of no where.. we all had a great time shooting some .22's...

she was smiling the whole time...

this fellow was out shooting too, he ended up shooting .22's with us for a bit and then he fired afew shots out of his AR-10.. this things was crazy..

we spent Sat. at one of our favorite spots called Sotcher Lake.. we took a few float tubes and the misses and our older son, did some float tubing around the lake.. this place is gorgeous.. you drop down a little in elevation to get here..

more to come still..

Mammoth has a really cool 4th of July parade.. this our second time spending the 4th there.. this years parade was so-so.. we were at the very end of it..
IMG_7952.jpg

after the parade we headed out of Mammoth and went and checked out a place called Bodie.. it's an old ghowtown from late 1800's.. http://www.bodie.com/ this place was cool and super creppy at the same time.. from all the history of this place, it was a pretty wild spot to be..

leaving Mamoth and heading into the lower hills.. that's Mono Lake in the background..

yesterday morning we packed it up and left our friend Greg's house fairly early.. we left Mammoth and headed into Yosemite National Park.. which we have to pass through/over to get home.. our destination was Tuolumne Meadows.. the misses used to live here in the backcountry, for months on end doing trail work, way back in her trail worker days.. we looooove this area, it truly is breath-taking..
we parked at the base of Lembert Dome(in the background of the first pic) and hiked in a few miles and had lunch next to the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River...

I live on the wrong side of the country! Great photo's Mike!

Thanks for sharing Mike. I needed to see that, I need to get out of the house!!!!

Right on, thanks for the pics!
Man, I'm totally jealous. I'm gonna have to get Greg's number from you and pay him a visit this year.

Tell that cool guy in the hat, good job on the fish.

Nice photos Mike. Looks like you guys had a great time (as usual). The shot of "Little Dude" in the bucket is a classic.

Awsome pictures Mike! I love the Eastern Sierra. I haven't been out there since 2006. The last time we went over Bodie, Mono Lake, and eastern Tioga pass was in 2004. I really need to go back. My wife loves that area too!

Very nice pics! I was camping up near Robinson Creek (near Bridgeport) at the end of May and boy did they have a late winter. On a couple mornings it dipped down to about 18 degrees. We also hiked up to Poore Lake for some natural brookies and had a great time. We're backpacking back into Poore Lake this weekend, if you don't mind me asking how was the weather like? Looks good in the pics though. Glad to hear your family had fun!

Wow, what a beautiful place! Thanks for posting up Mike!

Those float tubes pics, make me want to get mine out!

Stunning pictures and vacation Mike. That ghost town looks like a lot of fun. Wouldn't mind have my feet in that cold water also. Are those float tubes your own or did you rent them? They look perfect for that kind of water.
