Hi, I just finished this using 1095/15N20 peacock damascus and I finally got up the courage to use mammoth ivory.

I have my opinion of this one but I would appreciate your honest critique, I can handle it and it will help me.

Thanks, Dave

Charming knife. Their style is perceived in this knife as soon as I have seen it.
Very original piece, I congratulate him.
Thank you to show their work.

the filework combines really well with the pattern of the damascus! great mastadon ivory, too

As a fan of your work, I can just say that it's absolutely stunning.

Although I think I like the recurved blade a little bit more.

Beautiful.............the thumbstud inlay REALLY brings out the color in that fantastic ivory.

Most excellent.........:)

This one has everything screaming out HIGH-END. No compromises in your choice of material. I too probably prefer a spear or drop point blade, but only for shape and lines. Everything appears beautifully executed here. Jason.

Thank you very much for the kind words and your opinions.

I asked for honest critque on this one because when I finished it I felt there was something not quite right about it. I think there's something about the blade shape with this handle that bothers me. I'm going to set it aside for a few days and maybe then I can decide what it is.

Thanks again for your help, Dave

Very nicely executed. I like the swedge that you put on. The notch before the cutting edge starts (ricasso?) is very nicely done, a mini gaucho knife style and not the usual V shaped notch that is normally found in a folder.

Your choice of materials is faultless.

If any thing, to me it looks like the blade is a little too narrow for the handle. Perhaps a broad (fat) blade may look better. The handle is broad and hand filling, but the blade looks a little dainty.

Perhaps this may be due to the angle that the knife as photographed.

Notwithstanding, if you wanted to give it to me, I wouldn't say no :D

you got up the courage huh, well, so should have sooner. wonderful! Paul

I've been eyeballing this for a few days, and airyq said it best. Another would love this shape. But if I saw this and one of your delightful recurves side by side on a table, I would reach for the recurve knife with my right hand while my left was searching for my checkbook...! :D

Good luck. Very nice all around.

Honestly, I love that blade. The only thing that looks "off" to me (and this is just personal preference) is the use of mokume with the damascus. It just seems to clash a bit to me. Otherwise, it looks like perfection (as usual). :D

Thanks again for the comments and your help!

I think I might take the blade off, build a new knife around it and make a new blade for this one. To me it's a bit handle heavy, and I want to feel better about my first ivory knife

Do you think a clay hardened wavy hamon broad spearpoint would look good.

Hey Dwayne, I've watched your file work video several times, ordered some files and can't wait to try your technique on the next one.

Dave

Wow, very beautiful! The only thing I can say is that I think the blade is too small for the handle. Other than that it is an awesome knife.

it's beautiful in spite of your hesitations. I would take it in a hearbeat and do like the color combos. The end top of the blade does bother me a little but that is it.

I know it's hard sometimes to give honest critique even if asked for so I really appreciate the comments and opinions, they are extremely helpful.
Thank you, Dave
