I really like the way mammoth tooth scales look on a satin piece of infi but i have never had a user knife with mammoth tooth before. I currently have a black hole in my account and it is all Jerrys fault :D but the black hole is going to go away tomorrow or on monday and i was thinking i should get me some Custom Shop knifes..I have been thinking about getting a Warden , Active Duty , and maybe a Magnum Bear Cub and i want them with mammoth tooth scales.

But how does mammoth tooth perform on user knifes?, how does it stand up to wet condtitions? Does blood from game discolor it?

So if some of you guys has personal experience with mammoth tooth on a user, info and input will be greatly appreciated

I want to see some bloody mammoth tooth too!!!

Only person I can think of with a mammoth tooth user is Beef.....

....it's a SHMS I think.....show it off Beef!! :D

Holy crap! Mammoth shms!!!! I need a set of straight handles in mammoth!

I know many prefer natural material. But for users. I much prefer micarta. I've had wood handles break (not Busse) and just lost the appreciation for the beauty and rather function. I'm sure the stabilizer would keep it together but a fall to a concrete floor might be harmful. Just my thoughts.

I would also appreciate to know about the toughness of mammoth tooth since I'm already bought one :)

Wow mammoth tooth Tank Buster congrats shqxk  Is it the one Arizona Custom Knifes had for sale...

Mammoth tooth scales are very nice looking but don't make good users, they will break.

I did send all my straight handle users to the shop for mammoth tooth scales but after talking to Garth, I went with G10 scales for users.

If you don't intend hard use, go for it but if you do, G10 or Micarta will be the toughest material for hard use scales.

This! It feels like stone, I could see it on a small knife, one you only use for slicing / cutting. But I would be extremely wary of any impacts.

yup, what they said.

...are ye perhaps a DT fan, sai jroden19...? ;) long days & pleasant nights.

I'm pondering the idea of mammoth tooth as an inlay into say G10. It could be a win-win for beauty and durability. Only concern would be how thick the inlay should be to prevent any issues. I'm talking user here...since that's a topic in this thread.

On shqxk's Tank Buster i noticed that there is G10 and a red liner under the mammoth toot scales and this is also used on other knifes with mammoth tooth. On the smaller knifes i want to get there is no red liner but there is G10 and a thin grey line (might be a liner or epoxy) The small knifes i want will be used for (like jroden said ) slicing and cutting so i am going to order a few ... When i get them i will try to do a test on these handles in different enviroments, wet, cold ,slaughtering game etc and give you guys a report on how they perform..
