Cut around 500 slices of cardboard since Monday when I got my Southard
Touched it up on the sharpmaker at first, but then I went after everything!
Just tried stropping it with little results, but I just made 5 strokes on each side on the Sharpmaker and bam
Phonebook paper glides right through again
Could've kept cutting cardboard forever though

I would like more m390/204p in my life :D

That's what I thought when I got my southard and carried it for a couple of months. Someday I hope that it's just considered a common steel because right now any knife using one of those two is pretty expensive.

If you give your blades a regular tune up on the 204 Sharpmaker you won't ever have to deal with a really beat up, hard to sharpen blade.

The 204 Sharpmaker is really a unit for maintaining knives that are already relatively well profiled and maintained.

I highly recommend that anyone who buys a 204 Sharpmaker to also get the ultra-fine and diamond stones you can buy extra for it.

I just wish that at some point they would make a very coarse and aggressive stone for quick stock removal. Even the diamond stone takes quite a while for a really dull blade. But other than that it is a really great sharpening system.

:). I use the 204sm on my 204p pm2 all the time. Both are great tools. Sounds like the FBI here with all these acronyms! ;).

It doesn't take much time to touch-up my S110V Native either. Just let's wait until reprofile time :)

If I can't handle it on my edgepro it will be heading to Kentucky to see Big Chris. Russ

My Southard came dull and I haven't had much luck sharpening it with the standard sharp maker rods and ultra fine after. Just ordered diamond rods and hoping it will bring this edge to life. I always heard M390 was easy to sharpen, is 204p harder to get an edge on?

I've had a bit of a harder time with 204p on the regular sharpmaker rods. It's easy to get it shaving sharp, but I spent a lot of time getting it really hair popping. I am thinking the diamond rods would help quite a bit. Hopefully someone with actual experience can weigh in on this. I think l2bravo has the diamond rods, but don't know if he's used em on m390 of 204p.
