I have tried to post the same thing four times, now. It is a quote of one of Ken Cox's posts and a short comment of mine and it locks up each time.

Just in case you were not aware - this is an on-going problem with BladeForums since the installation/upgrade to the current software vBulletin Version 3.0.8 ~ since about July/30

What's the browser you're using please?

This happens often to me too - especially using the default QUOTE=username tag.
I have to now remember each time to modify the QUOTE to get rid of the tag (ie: as above - just using plain text) otherwise IE6 is likely to lock-up on me (hence the non-standard modified quote of your post above).

Please see these relevant threads here -

Preview and Submit Post Locks up

IE locks up BAD when posting!

BF locks up while posting with quote

Post testing

Spark and BF admin are aware of this problem -
BUT as yet no analysis or solutions have been offered.

I have the exact same problems over at CandlePowerForums as they have also installed the same software version.

CPF locking up when PM's are submitted?

IE6 Locks-Up when Posting with QUOTE

PM submit form button causes MSIE6 to hang....

Possible Workaround - This works for me - the apparent problem (for me) is including QUOTE tags in my post - especially a QUOTE=username tag, with a longer quote - and it appears to be accumulative, ie: the more Previews (and/or Edits) the more likely the IE6 Lock-Up.
So my Workaround is to remove any QUOTE tags in the post - I now try to remember to modify any and all quotes to remove the QUOTE tags, ie: the QUOTE and /QUOTE in the "[....]".

EDIT - I see you contributed to one of the threads on this problem here already - so I guess this is really for the benefit of anyone who might not be aware of this on-going problem.

The problem is not consistent - there are lots of people on IE6 who are not the least bit affected.

That does not lessen the seriousness of the problems of those who are affected
- and it isn't isolated to one or two people -

this post over at CPF nicely summarizes the situation.

The only cure for this VBulletin problem, is to download the Mozilla Firefox browser.

I started locking up months ago here after one of the upgrades. I got the Firefox browser and it speeded things up considerably, plus no popups or spyware.
I didn't like doing this, but three forums I frequent have this same bogus software and I like browsing them, so.....................:D

That is a good alternative -

But it should be noted FireFox is NOT immune.
There have been reports of FireFox locking up too - it is less frequent -
but then there are far fewer FireFox users too.

I have some very good reasons for being on IE6 - without which would render some of my use the the internet inoperable -
and although I have installed and used FireFox - unfortunately FireFox is not compatible with an essential component I use for the net.....
and the only Browser that is compatible was IE6.

Firefox has never locked up on me, but once in a while it won't grab a smily from the little menu when I'm drafting a post. If I ever need to use IE, I just use the "IEView" extension. With all the cool extensions and themes I just like it much better.
