Got to spend the evening playing softball with family and friends. First time in a long time that we all got to play together. We had two games and won both of them. I gotta say though, I am sore. The fields we played on tonight didnt have home run fences so if you want a home run you have to run for it. Hit 3 in the park homers and I am now feeling every painful step of them. I am getting to old and a little to thick around the mid section for that much running. But it was a great time and I am sure I will be right back at it next week..........

That is if I can still walk tomorrow.

Hey Garth, I can relate my friend! Our high mileage bodies just don't respond the way they use to. :D Some liquid anesthesia may be just what the doctor ordered.;)

I must have watched too much Leave It To Beaver. I thought you were pissed off about something when I saw the thread title!

Im sure I may be mad tomorrow about playing today. But it was a great time. Nothing a few shots of Cabo and a hot tub cant fix, atleast temporarily.

Garth, if you are still sore, you must have skipped your morning bacon. Say it ain't so!!!

I thought this may be relevant to you today Garth....

...and given I am attending my XX year high school reunion back up in the country tonight....well it may be relevant to me tomorrow.... ;)

I think the pain may have actually motivated me to start working out some again. Went over to my parents and chopped up about a cord of wood for them tonight. Weird, but I think I actually kind of miss the after workout pain.

I must be sobering up. I am starting to speak jibberish.

Going back to my saturday night workout. Lift glass, sit glass down, repeat.

That pain means you usually mean you've done something useful. A proper workout during the day followed by the proper workout at night sounds like a well balanced day.

Keep on playing Garth, it will keep you young. I've played baseball since I was a kid. Played high school ball. Even played in few wood bat amateur leagues from 09 or so till last summer. So much fun. Great range of players in terms of both age and experience. From dudes just out of high school with a few guys closer to 50 and everything in between. The older gents played just as hard as the kids (relative term I guess) and it was only once a week so they had some time to recuperate. Still, even for a boring sport that's a good amount of stress to put on the body.

Softball is a great alternative. I played in a coed league when I wasn't playing baseball and work permitted. Easier on the body (unless you don't have fences :D) and to organize. Some friends I played ball with in high school play semi competitive softball. Not sure about those games but whenever they just go mess around or play in a coed league they like to have a few before. Makes for a fun time, as long as you can hit the ball inebriated. They do call them beer leagues for a reason.

Hope ya keep at it!

I have played in a few beer leagues in my day. They were a lot of fun when I was younger. Now I prefer to stay sober to keep the stupid injuries to a minimum. LOL Once in a while I will make a play that is awesome just to stand up and think " thats gonna leave a mark". It is still a good time and a way to get off of my butt for a few hours.
