Ahhhhh, the people on this porch...
Just amaze me with their generosity!!! I always like to read about peoples generosity towards each other here gifting knives, but its different when its directed at you.
Well lets go back awhile ago, I posted some pics of my knives with homemade beads. I dabble in making some custom lanyard beads ("knife jewelry") for some of my knives, sometimes the right bead/lanyard complete the knife. GuestWho101 sent me a pm admiring my beads so I asked for his address and sent him off some, sometimes if I have any scraps of exotic wood laying around I can't throw them away so I try to use them, so I had some extras and I made a couple and sent them out with a note. When he got them, he sent me pm thanking me and I was really glad that he liked them.
Then last week I got a PM from him saying he wanted to confirm my address because he wanted to send me some "beads", I thought that's cool and very nice of him, I always like to receive something handcrafted.
I get home on Thursday and find a package in the mail from GuestWho101 but when handling it I realized that there were no beads in there. When I opened it, I found...
I was absolutely speechless, This is just an excellent knife! I had been on a case buying rampage and bought too many, and had to sell off some keeping the ones I really loved. I had also been in the mood looking for a good barlow knife and this one definitely checks a lot of boxes. At first I didn't want to use and keep it clean in the drawer, but I changed my mind because it will get better with age and use.
Thank you GuestWho101, I will definitely use this and never part with it. I gave it a warm bath, oiled it up, and into the pocket it went. The patina is starting to form and will continue to evolve.
Also on Thursday, I counted five mosquito assassins are living in my wife's garden which I love praying mantises and will continue watching them change over the summer as well.
