Jeez, I'm losing it! I just spent a week doing all kinds of research, watching videos, reading in these forums and asking questions. So finally I looked at everything and made up my mind! I ordered the manix 2 lightweight. It has not even arrived yet and I have already decided i made a mistake and I should have gotten the caly 3.5 instead! Lol. Seriously, it's bugging the crap out of me! I'm actually considering canceling the manix order and getting the caly!! And I might! The $50 price difference still has me on the fence, but I'm pretty sure I like the caly better! Several people recommended it to me! I don't know why I didn't pay attention to it before I ordered!

Lol, I'm losing it! Is this kind of neurosis normal around here??

I can definitely sympathize. And I can clearly remember the thread where you were confident that the Manix 2 LW was the right choice.

Just relax and save up for a Caly 3.5. I think the Caly makes one of the best EDC knives available but I am not near water on a regular basis. If I was, I doubt I would carry it regularly. I'd probably stick to the one of the Salt series just to be safe. You could always pay for someone to convert a Salt knife into a full flat grind. ;)

Nah, the norm around here is to convience yourself you need both, and order the caly before the manix is still in transit.

I agree with the advice to save up for the Caly then you will have both. Then take a look at the Native :)

A good knife collection has to start somewhere. Sounds like you're on your way. :D

This thread is great because while I've been into knives for years, recently joining bladeforums has upped my obsession ten fold. Since I joined I've picked up three new knives and have been lurking the forums planning another purchase. The "just buy them both" mentality runs strong here. A bunch of enablers!

By the way, have a manix lw in my pocket right now and really is s great knife.

Yeah, I see I'm not going to get any conservative advice in THIS crowd! Hehehe. I think it's ok to want the caly. I need to let go of the idea that the manix is somehow bad or wrong just because I want something else. Whatever. I'm gonna just get the manix and see what that leads to. ;-).

OMG!! I just realized I need a Dodo!! Seriously! I mean I still need the caly 3.5, but now I realize that I need an orange Dodo too!! :-). The funny part is I'm not kidding!

I've found it's easier just to make a list of all the knives I don't want and then go from there :D My list is still very small :p

LOL, I'm not sure if you will want to wear the Manix around your neck while fishing though. That thing starts swinging around and it might knock you out! It's got A LOT more heft to it than a mini grip or a dragonfly.

The collection fever starts slow and then builds. I've been collecting for a few years, and I've noticed an interesting phenomenon. The VOLUME of knives that I get now probably isn't higher than a couple of years ago, but the average COST of the knives that I'm buying has gone WAY up. For years I had a hard, set in stone upper limit of $100 per knife. If I couldn't buy it for that, or find one used, I just didn't get one. Then I started hanging out here on BF and before long I raised my limit to $200 per knife. Now I'm considering raising the limit once again. This forum is NOT a good place for the wallet!

+1. Recently picked up something that used to be out of my price range. No regrets though. My collection is far better now than it was before.

IMO get the Manix 2 (great knife) and save up for the Caly if you really want that. Also, its not just you knives have caused me alot of stress and money latley lol but in a good way I guess. My problem is if I want 2 different knives I generally buy both and that gets me in trouble!
