Greetings all,

I was hanging out solely in the slipjoint circles since about last September, but recently the fires of collecting locking knives was rekindled....with a gallon jug of lighter fluid and a match!!!

It started with a PE Paramilitary a couple of weeks ago. What a great knife! I handled one in the passaround, and was only disappointed in the sharp, squared-off tang. The one I received, however, had a rounded tang and was perfect in every other way. What a great knife for EDC! The long handle gives plenty of room to grip, and the blade shape is great for slicing, piercing, etc... Sweet!

Next, I bought a PE Manix, and that just arrived today. Dang if I don't have the biggest ear-to-ear grin every time I open this knife up! Opening and closing are as smooth as a baby's butt, and this knife is perfect...perfect...perfect I say, in execution. I imagine that the Manix will be laughing at me for every task I throw at it! Well Done, Spyderco!

Finally, I have a PE Dodo (black handles) that I won off eBay coming in later this week or early next week. I've had the blue-handled Dodo before, and sold it when I lost interest in locking knives. I remember fondly though, how well that knife performed for my urban EDC purposes.

All in all, a great Spyderco month for me. I'm going to have to put a moratorium on knife purchases for a month or two, but what a way to get back in the game! :)

Spyderco employees and CEO: a well-deserved pat on the back and an atta'boy from me. I've always had a soft spot for Spyderco (no...not the one on my head!) ever since I bought a Native five years ago, but you have really outdone yourself!

Yep, you have been bitting by the mighty Spider, once you get bitten you will start to collect and buy and use Spydie's ever after! :p

Did you get the slipjoint Spyderco?? The one for the UK??
Welcome back!!Blades

C'mon now Blades, I just said I have a moratorium on any more knives until June. Don't make it any harder than it has to be :D

that's the best analogy I've read about the Manix! good one :)

I wish I could take credit for that analogy, but somebody else coined that particular gem. It really surprised me, though, how smoothly this knife opens. I had expected, as with most lockbacks I've used, an initial resistance upon opening, and then a snap into the opened position. The Manix though, just glides from closed to open (and vice-versa) without any jerky motions.

Genius! And now I can't wait for the Mini-Manix proto to be revealed at Blade '05!!

Nice way to get back into Spydies. I had been feeling bad reading this forum as currently I only have two FRN spydies, which I carry and use alot but are pretty boring. So I decided I needed to change that, now I have 2 shabarias on there way to me, a spyderfly and a orange rescue 93 (which I am really excited about) WOOHOO but I am not gonna be able to buy any new knives until June 06;-)> Oh well I can always sell a kidney when the szabofly comes out.

edgetrip - you're not doing so bad yourself! I'd like to pick up a Spyder balisong myself, except I still have a hard time flipping after a little accident with my finger

BTW, what part of North Florida are you from? I grew up outside Gainesville...

Nope its been a good one. Makes the days at work that much easier knowing that there is gonna be a new spydie waiting for me when I get home.

I am in Tallahassee, which I guess is more appropriately south Georgia

As far as a Bali goes, by the time the szabo fly is available maybe your finger will be healed, I am really excited about this one.

I just got the Dodo in today...I'm so glad I decided to get it! It's smaller than I remember, but still such a useful knife!

I think I have really come down with the Spyder-bug though. Today I did something that I have never done before. I bought a second Paramilitary off of the forums, just because I like this knife that much! :)

OK Ok, now I really have to force a hiatus from buying knives...

Thanks again Spyderco!

So far the Shabaria and spyderfly have arrived, the shabaria is very strange but super cool. This is a knife that the pyckle guys must love. Its awesome in edge in reverse grip. The handle to blade ratio is great and I love the jambyia style handle. I just wish it had been made in the larger proto size. I guess its unlikely a middle eastern influenced knife is gonna be resurrected considering the current political climate though. A bigger one could be called the Spyderco Jihad, which translates leterally to supreme effort, probably not though huh;-)>

The spyderfly is awesome, just got it this morning and have been playing with it all day in my office (with the door closed) I had to tighten one of the pivot screws but now its perfect, I love the waspy blade shape, vg10 is scary, the shaped handles are way cool too. I am used to BM balis so this takes some adjustment but I much prefer it for carry to the BMs that I have owned. I won't really be able to flip the hell out of it until I get home but I am looking forward to that too.

Thanks for too superb products and btw. when is the szabofly going to be released?

;-)>
not that I am eager or anything
