Man saves his son from a cougar with a folder

It was a Caly 3.5. Funny, I'm carrying that exact knife today.
 
I was at Big Bend a couple of years ago... Here is one of the signs posted. A park Ranger told me that most of the cats are in the "basin" which is where this attack occurred. Their primary/preferred food choice is Javelina. And they are located in the basin. Plenty of mule deer in the mountains... but I suppose they are a bit more dangerous prey and probably not quite as easy to catch and kill as the lil' pigs.

My wife and I did see a Mountain Lion on a hike in Big Bend. It vanished in what seemed like milliseconds... before I could even get my hand on my .357. I was impressed with it's speed and damn glad it was going the other way. Normally, they go to extreme lengths to avoid humans.

As feral hog populations swell across the US cougar populations are said to be doing the same. Coincidence? I think not.


Pretty awesome that the Dad in this case took care of business. Chalk one up for the good guys. :thumbup:

the animal avoided the bigger human and attacked the smaller (weaker) human. starting to see a pattern with big cats. time magazine once featured the sunderbans tigers in india. forresters and loggers go to work with armed escorts. one forrester was sawing a tree while two armed soldiers were facing outwards, guarding him. a tiger leaped above the soldiers and attacked the forrester who had his back turned. that's why hindus venture to the area with guns and wearing painted masks at the back of their heads.

when i first read the title, i though he had to beat off a 40-50 year old woman in order to protect his 18 year old son from her haha!
