Man survives 300 days......

At one time I was keeping up with his phoned-in updates. Seems to me he later discovered the island was not unihabited. Nevertheless, it is a cool adventure.

When is the documentary to air? Will it be broadcast in the U.S.? I wonder how the piglet felt about watching his buddies being roasted?

Love to watch the documentary when it comes out.

Thanks for posting the thread jlouis976.

I remember reading about this when he started. I'm glad he was able to finish. It should be a great documentary. Mac

Sounds like heaven to me, not 'surviving'!

Although if I was to do it, I would take a (big!) rucksack full of kit. Might as well be comfortable.

That's cool, I'd like to see that video. Where'd he get a power source for all this? Did he haul a generator in with him?

Wow, if a guy with Pink pants can do it, there is hope for J Williams as well!!!

This sounds like it might be worth a watch, provided they don't try and sensationalise it !! Any word on when it'll be aired ??

Easy enough to take a small solar charger. Would be enough to charge flashlight, sat phone, GPS, and camera batteries.

I remember reading about this a while back...glad to see he made it out ok !
I would like to give it a go !!!!!

Well it was quite an achievement and power to him for concluding it! Ten months is a long time and on minimal gear. Mind you, I'm sure he did adequate research before hand about the Island to ascertain the feasiblity of it. The very fact that the island has on it a lake makes one hurdle - water much easier to accomodate. Also, if you know you are going to be there for 10 months then it takes the decision making of Shelter/or Move on out of the picture.

I think it would be interesting to do from a self study perspective. I honestly don't know if I could do it personally. I mean just the shear time commitment to sever ties with career and so forth. It really take a SHTF scenario for me to lay low for a year. Even then, don't know how well I'd actually fair.

What a neat story. There are a lot of us that would like to do that maybe not for 10 months like Kgd said would be hard to because most of us have commitments and family to take care of, but a couple of months I think would be so cool to do. I can al ready tell you the couple of items I would be taking with me are my Warthorn knife and a longer knife too. I was at the super market today and going throught the produce area and saw a few coconuts and bought one. I went for a little walk today and decided to see just how well my Warthorn knife would be at cutting it open that coconut.
I held the coconut with my left hand and then took my knife and gave that coconut a little whack and it did nothing then I hit is just a tad harder and that cracked it and I hit it as a rotated and it and then when the milk started draining out I quick brought it up to my mouth and took a drink ( I spilled most of it down the front of my shirt LOL). I got just a about half a mouth full and drank that and that was enough LOL. I am glad that I did not have a pick of my face when I swallowed that milk LOL it was not the best tasting milk I ever had. I then cut the rest of it in half and then picked some of the
coconut meat out with my knife and then eat some. At first I was like man that is not like what I get at the store all shredded up LOL.

I have been picking at it most the day now between looking at Blade forums and watching Rambo 4 and working on a hatchet and sheath for a customer. I have just about eaten 1/8" of it already LOL Here are the pics.

In this pic I have cracked it all the way around and then taken my drink the rest of the milk went on the ground and on the front of my shirt.

Then I have a pic of holding just half of it and my Warthorn knife.

When I took this pic I had already had a couple of bites and I had taken a pic of me chewing that meat up and the picked looked very dorky do I took another one with me holding some of the coconut in my hand.

Well I got to play castaway for a couple of hours and then back to reality
( family, chores, knife making, tree cutting and bills that are due LOL)
Oh well it was fun to play and dream of being able to just live the life of a castaway for a little while. If I have not eaten all that coconut by tomarrow I will take some on my walk then and play some more while out walking along of the streams we have in the woods here on the farm.

Very cool vacation that fellow did.
