Yesterday, in the mail I received onw of the Hogue folders. It has a 4" drop point blade. It is OD green. I was totaley blown away. I could not beleive how good the knife felt in my hand, and how well made it was. This knife should sure take some hard use. I am about tempted to get another for a spare. I will have to say, this is the best production folder I have seen in along time. Does anybody else like these knives? I can;t wait to see how the ZT 550 compares to this one!

The Hogue 4" knives are a TOP value in the knife world right now! And I'm excited to see some of the new models they plan to release soon.

Thank you, Ray. With friends like you, I need a bigger bank account. I've had my eye on the Hogues, I think we all have. Good-looking knives, just what I'd expect from Mr. Elishewitz.

Your enthusiasm put me over the top on this one. I just ordered the same model. Amazingly, they are far from the most expensive of the top of the line knives.

I'll let you know what I think when it gets here! :D

I bought one at Blade last year and it is fantastic! It was one of the limited edition damascus blades hand ground by Mr. Elishewitz :) I'm thinking of getting another one but a plain one this time. Trying to decide between the green or black g-mascus.

Trying to decide between the green or black g-mascus.

I am usually big on metal handles, but the G-10 was too good to pass up on these, with that G-mascus pattern. I went with the green because it just seems to show the pattern so much better, and I've got enough black already anyway! :D

I just got a black G-mascus 4" drop point. Its a Great knife. Everything about

the knife is excellent. The balance isn't great but that's the only thing I find

that could be improved on.

In the 4" version is a Big knife. The blade is bigger than the blade

on the Millie. This is a well designed and well thougt out knife.

Im going to get another....I just dont know which one yet.

To answer another poster I'm not having any problems with the safety.

I just traded mine...

But I must say it was a great knife. Fantastic quality. It just didn't fit my hand well. I prefer shorter handles. It was just too big

Yes, you did, thankfully. I've had the 4" drop-point G-10 version (Black G-Mascus I believe it's called) & currently a 3.5" Drop-point OD aluminum one & now SpartanSaint's 4" Tanto OD aluminum one.

I like their G-10 models, but I felt their balance was a little off, to me (They seem awfully blade heavy).

That aside, they all are high quality knives. I've had my 3.5" model for well over 6 months & it's been great. Their heat-treat seems very good as it has held its edge very well with no issues.

the safety on mine engages/disengages way too easy, and has given me deployment problems. anyone else had this problem?

Yes, I had that problem also. I actually ended up removing the safety on the one I edc'ed for a while. It was getting really annoying engaging on its own all the time so I took matters into my own hands.

This was the only lame detail on the knife. I'm not even sure why a manual action button lock would need a safety to begin with? The buttons on the 5 I have handled all needed a fairly deep push to disengage the lock, not something I would think could happen accidentally in use.

I have two and happy with both , one of best production folders right now

Mixed feelings from my end about the 3.5" G10 (drop point) version..
Pros:
- Excellent fit and finish
- If ever there was a case for a button lock knife this is it
- High aesthetic value (depending on taste)
- Absolutely no blade play
- Nice blade

Cons:
- Unusually poor balance; so blade-heavy the knife wants to fall out of your hand
- "Jimping" is mostly decorative
- Not very ergonomic

Can you post a photo? What sort of lock does it have?

The photos I've seen seem gorgeous. It also seems to be a large knife, which I like.
