Just found this series with the special foces soldier and his annoying wife.

Trust British people do not all sound like that!

Anyway the dude is carrying a Kukri in a kydex sheath, not sure what type kukri but hes doing all his tasks with it!

The last episode he used the TOPS Hellion that he designed to hollow out a cactus that he urinated in, and they then drank. Prior to that he used the Cold Steel Kukri. The show is annoying.

That's the one I was trying to think of when I made my last post in The Discovery Channel thread as I was gonna comment on it there...

This is one show I really do like for the entertainment factor although I Have Changed the channel a few times when it's lost its appeal...

It's very obvious they have a film crew along as well. One of my favorite parts so far was when they found the wildebeest lion kill and Ruth was trying to cut one of its front legs off and Myke kept telling her that the little bird in the tree above them was singing a warning which made Ruth all the more nervous, or she's in fact a damned good actress!
Anyway it took Myke and his big KLO too get the leg off...

Ruth's cuteness factor such as not wanting to eat the huge tortoise they had captured and on top of everything else Ruth wanting to name the damned thing!!!
First rule of the day is you never name anything you're apt too eat sooner or later!!! :D
The whole thing with the woman's touch is that it should appeal to the ladies senses and maybe something that'll get some of the women out there watching a nature show that at one time you'd never get 'em too watch!!!

I especially like watching this one as my wife and I set there saying, "What a Dumbarse!" When Ruth does something especially unbecoming someone/anyone in a survival situation... ;) :D

I've got to get TV someday. I'm missing all the good shows (mostly missing the Pacific version of Band of Brothers)... and football.

I watch these episodes on you tube for free

I think theres also other free sites that play episodes all at once.

I've been using Hulu for my TV fix for the last few years. But I can't get football on it... or the HBO specials like Pacific. Someday...

I will have to search around for this show though. It sounds like fun! Thanks for letting me know it is out there on the wild webz :).

Say what?

At least their own urine was sterile unless one of 'em had a UTI or some other kind of urinary infection...
It sure as hell wouldn't be as disgusting as Bear Grylls drinking the fluid he was squeezing out of an African Snowball, although when one's in a survival situation... Eeeeerk!!! ;) :D

The Pacific was alright-I get the feeling they didn't put nearly the time and thought into the storyline/production as they did with the first series, though it was still well done by TV show standards. I didn't connect with the characters nearly as well as I did with BOB...

To me it is really strange that these military trained survival experts (Hawke, Grylls etc.) continue to reccomend drinking urine. Which is STRONGLY ADVISED AGAINST By EVERY military survival school out there. It is not only foolish but can prove fatal as it increases dehydration as well as poisoning the body.

I hate to see anyone give the gullible bad information just for GEEK value.

I read a book called "Grunts" a long time ago. One thing in particular I remember from the book (I think I posted this in the WS&S section). But at one point, they (a Marine rifle company) were in the highlands of Vietnam, and had no way to resupply water. They couldn't leave their patrol area to get to rivers, and there were no choppers available to fly in water (I think this was during Tet). Some of the guys got the bright idea of drinking their urine. Those that did went down in a few hours due to violent vomiting. They ended up more dehydrated than before, and several almost died before they could be medevac'd (incidentally, the choppers that medevac'd them were also the first ones available, and brought water to the rest of the company.

So not only did they not rehydrate, they made it worse for them, and almost died, and stopped a combat company in its tracks until they could be evac'd.

Most of us that have been through the training and experience feel like strangling these morons every time they present that topic.

It is generaly pushed by producers wanting ratings. Trouble is these so called experts lack the integrity to say no. Which is even sadder.

To bring this back to the OP. I find it sad that he choose a CS Kukri over something more "quality"

Nate the producers of the show probably have no idea what a high quality kukri is and even if they did they probably wouldn't spend the money for one. :grumpy:
And actually the CS Kukri may be a better choice in this case because of the material being cut as mostly what I've seen is almost always thin and springy or soft with the exception of the bamboo. No more than the amount of material Myke is having to chop having his kukri sticking in the cut once in a while wouldn't/shouldn't cause that much of a problem... IMHO anyway... ;) :D
