That is a beautiful pairing of blades!
Oh if only I had the funds!

Console yourself, your shiny siru will probably come today..

I feel better just looking. I can't play but I've been anxiously awaiting a DOD for a few days.

I'm ok now. Thanks for letting me look.

Both beautiful blades today.

nice, why is the one special? ( manakamana special)

They don't release these too often, I snagged two last year that were a bit heavier than this one.

The Kamis made a trip to a temple sometime in the past and this Khukuri came about as a special shortly afterwards, there was a full post by Yangdu explaining the story behind it.

They are absolutely some of my favorites in my collection; if you don't have one I highly recommend picking it up especially since they don't show up on here that often.

I did a review of my Manakamana Special last year: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...rambit-and-Great-Buys?p=11253684#post11253684

It is indeed a special design, with many excellent qualities. I believe the design was done in honor of a pilgrimage that the HI staff made to the Manakamana Temple. Here's Yangdu's posting about the first MS knives: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...na-Special-Knife?highlight=manakamana+special

The one I got was 18" long and 28oz. This new one, at 3 oz lighter, will be a little easier to swing. It's a very powerful design, practical as well as good-looking. I recommend it to anyone who can come up with the $175.

I'm almost tempted to go for it myself, but that would be crazy, wouldn't it? I'm also tempted by the Gelbu Special, though I have one of those in 18". Somebody shark those two blades while I can still resist. You won't regret either one.

Agreed, it is really an excellent design and unique in the HI lineup and a good snag for anyone.

I'm in the same boat as you right now. I don't NEED a third one, but it is tempting. I keep telling myself "but mine are both 17 3/4-18" and 28oz so this one is different!"

then I have sent email for it, thanks for reccommendations(only for manakama gelbu should still be up)-- also cant pay until like friday so its up until then :D

The MS is a spirit blade if I have ever wielded one. I took mine camping last year and it might be the single best camp khuk in my collection, and I have a LOT of khuks that would fit that monkier.

Get one when you can. They really are "special" in the truest form of the word.
