Folks,
It takes a LOT for me to get really excited about a knife or a maker. I only say this because I have had the VERY unique opportunity to handle hundreds and hundreds of quality knives closely. (All knives excite me—can you tell??! )
Sal Manaro's name popped up on another forum months ago. I saw a neat folder being displayed and took a glance at his website. After scouring the pages at length I sent him an email inquiry about his work and pricing. I was that interested.
Since then we have exchanged real conversations, and I AM in line for one of his trademark 'Bullseye' folders. Let's see what I'm talking about:
Let me point out some distinctions: The fitment of every component is super-clean. Lots of atterntion to detail on all the components. The blade choil area around the pivot is finished and rounded, there is jeweling on the liners and the backspacer, he has hand-filed checkering grooves into his unique backspacer, and Sal also makes his clips with his own press and dies. Speaking of which, LOOK at the flush mounting he has fitted to it.
The disc thumbstud is ambi, and the hidden treasure is how he screws the bolsters in from the inside of the liners. They are wonderfully rounded and finished. All of this has been done before, but from someone so new, he gets my respect and attention.
All-in-all, as a tactical-based folders go, this one knocked my socks off.
Going further, Sal sent me a 'gent's version' of this knife to photograph, and I'll show this off as well:
And if this is not enough to please our eyes, here is his version of a fixed blade he calls the 'Hole Shot':
So, I know I'm blowin' his horn, but why not? A good man has to get his work out there somehow. Maybe he's join us for some comments. Take a look at his site for more info:

Thanks for looking,
