Hey everyone have not posted in a while. I saw the show manhunter and was wondering what your thoughts were on this show also do you guys have any good anti tracking methods or books on evading thanks.

I've caught a few episodes and the folks on foot don't seem to be doing all they could do to be as invisible as they can. I'm sure that they are given suggestions to make the show interesting, but if it was a real life/death or freedom/incarceration thing you can bet that I'd be much more careful than the contestants.

As for throwing the tracker off their trail, I have no experience doing that. It would be fun to try out some stuff though.

I suspect that the terrain they choose makes it somewhat easy for the tracker to predict the path the people on foot will take. It seems that the waterways, mountains and trails all lead in one particular direction and if the tracker misses them in one spot, he can most likely head up the trail and pick up the scent. I could be wrong, but tv isn't always truthful or fair to the viewer. Fun show anyway from what I've seen so far.

What's annoying on this show is that the "preys" are on a very short schedule so they have to rush pretty straight toward their goal, which means tracker can quickly figure out their general direction: not much opportunity to create a big diversion. Then it pretty easy to set ambushes on their forseeable path.

Evaders also probably start too close to the tracker. That gives more spectacle, plenty hide and seek events and dramatic evasion, but is not very interesting tracking wise.
I must say I haven't seen much interesting tactics in the show.

Guess your best chance in an evasion situation is to confuse tracker about your real whereabouts, cause if he knows where you're heading even if you loose him he can always get you further down the way.

In a real evasion situation you'd probably try to make at least one major diversion and maybe use strategies like digging in for a while.

It's pretty good entertainment but not much for any real life tracking. From what I see the "Prey" have a deadline to get to the "FreeZone" So it's not real hard for the "Trackers" to keep up. Not bragging but If I didn't want those 2 guy's on horseback to find me then they would really have to work some overtime to keep up with me ;) I see alot of stupid mistakes the prey make & the trackers don't impress me. But for Entertainment purposes it's still a fun show to watch

I think they're showing all reruns right now but I like the episode where the 19 year old girl beats him! Pretty fun show... although my wife thinks he lets them get away on purpose sometimes to extend the show. Might be true. BTW, it's Mantracker, not Manhunter.
