Manix 2 – Which one?

I have decided to buy a Spyderco Manix 2, but which one should I buy? My choices are: Black handle, 154CM, hollow ground plain edge. Green handle, CTS-XHP, flat ground plain edge. Blue handle, S30V, flat ground plain edge. A knife store where I live has all three in stock, so I can have a good look at the knives. Price is not a factor. Resale value is not a factor. I plan on using the knife for every day carry. I only want to buy one knife (I can't afford all three). Which knife do you think would be best for every day carry, and why?

Thanks for your help, guys.

I have the blue one and love it! That said... my favorite color is blue AND it is the more limited model... If i didn't care about resale or color (though I doubt i'll sell it), I'd go for the CTS-XHP model, just to try the new steel...

I will say I'm very impressed with the S30v and how stain resistant it is... used it on the boat last weekend and forgot to rinse it off... to my surprise there wasn't even surface rust on it...

I am leaning towards the green one. I wonder how the CTS-XHP will compare with S30V for edge holding and ease of sharpening.

Get the green one to use and the blue one to keep for a rainy day. ;)

If you can only afford one, get the CTS-XHP.

The normal black 154 cm is available at most shops. For 80 dollars the cheapest and a real workhorse. Also the heaviest manix2.

For the green and blue this will be more difficult.

Maybe there still some green ones around but the blue will be sold out and the the green probably too.

There's an under the radar PINK model out there right now. Check out the Spyderco forum/subforum.

Since colour is a personal preference I'd suggest getting any of the FFG model. Depending on your use even the 154CM steel may be sufficient for your needs as I've never had issues with using knives made with them though those were Benchmades but I assume both companies heat treats them decently.

I used to EDC an Endura 4 with a hollowed ground blade but since getting my FFG version I now prefer it to the former. It just slices better and I'd assume the same with the Manix. Whichever you choose any of the Manix will make a nice user. They are tough and well built.

I have all of them - there is no bad choice. I'd slightly tilt toward the FG/XHP sprint version. IMO it holds an edge at least as well as the S30V blade but sharpens up more like the 154CM blade.

The CTS-XHP Manix2 is an excellent choice, go for it. :)

I have all the FFG including the S90V. But the Carpenter version is nice considering price. I'd try to get one from the second run . . .

154, it is highly underrated. sharpens easier than s30v and hold pretty well. never had 154 by spyderco, but my benchmade 940 and protech were excellent. I like it better than s30v because the sharpening factor. not sure of the other steel.

I just caved in and picked up the 154CM G10 version today at my local knife store. Next to my Pacific Salt, it's my biggest folder. I EDC'd it this afternoon along with my Caly3 and Grasshopper. I'm not usually into bigger knives but I actually really like it. It just feels totally bomb proof and I can definitely see myself EDCing it on hikes, etc instead of my Caly3. For day to day EDC, something the size of a Caly3, Delica4 or Mini Grip is about as big as I feel comfortable carrying in the city.
