Manix 2 and its lock (& other options)? ...

I've been away a while. And not a deep user, just lock a few moderately priced pocket knives.

I particularly like somehow uncommon locking mechanisms. I enjoyed the Axis lock on a Benchmade I owned. And I like my Spydercos, Meerkat and Poliwog.

Considering a Manix 2. How does the lock work? Is it similar to the lock on the Poliwog?

And are there any other interesting lock mechanisms available in knives under say $125 street price?

Thanks very much in advance,
Chris

I'm into the whole lock thing as well. I find them fascinating for whatever reason. My poliwog is one of my favorites. The Manix lock is similar but easier to operate than just the bearing. The compression lock is great and if you don't have one already I highly recommend it. Another cool one is the "phantom lock" on the meerkat. They are out of production but Spyderco is about to release a new sprint run of them in Hap 40.

I think that the Manix and the Poliwog use stainless steel balls in their ball bearing locks. Some of their knives such as the new QBall use a ceramic ball instead.

I'm a lock freak also!
You can check out a good button lock also. Hogue makes very good ones!
My favorites??? Compression and Axis locks! Most fun to play with!
Frame locks are pretty awesome also!

Manix lock is pretty awesome and one of my favorite. The BB riding on the tang makes for a really smooth experience. It's one of my favorite knife platforms and I doubt you'll be disappointed!

I just picked up a Freeman 451 and the button lock flipper on bearings just blew my mind! Crazy smooth and currently my best knife to play with. Hitting that button drops the blade like a guillotine.

The Manix2 rules. Check out the KnifeCenter exclusive in Cruwear/CF. Truly awesome.

My favorite locks include frame locks , compression lock and ball bearing lock.

You could check out the Szabo folder, they can be had that price with a little shopping. The interesting part about that lock is the assisted closing mechanism to keep that big bad blade subdued.

It is the same but smoother to unlock because of the cage.

If you want something with a different locking mechanism.

Compression locks

and

the sage 3 with a bolt lock.
