Less of a review and more of a first impressions post. This is my first Manix 2, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I like it though. A lot.
The first thing I noticed was the size. While shorter in overall length than the Para 2, it has a heft to it that the Para 2 does not. I think it may be due to the width. Though wider, it doesn't bother me in the least. Second thing I noticed was the texture of the G10. It is much more coarse than the G10 normally used by Spyderco. It's not quite as coarse as the G10 used by Cold Steel, but it isn't far behind. I like it but fear it might tear pockets to hell. The action is really smooth already and only expect it to get better with some good ole break in time. The lock up is like a rock; no play in any direction. The blade arrived tree-topping sharp (as per usual from Spyderco). The fit and finish is really good as well.
Overall, I'm really pleased with it. I think that I'll carry it for a good while to get a good feel for it and maybe have a full review once I'm done (to include edge retention of BD30P, durablility, etc.).
Edit: I'm trying to upload some comparison pictures of the G10, but PhotoBucket is being difficult right now. Stay tuned for pics.
Got 'em.
