Okay, yesterday I got my hands on a black Manix 2 to go along with my blue lightweight and was wondering if switching the blades would be safe? I'd love the light weight with the black s30v blade. What's your thoughts on this?

Just thought about it but the lightweight is pinned all besides the pivot screw so I'm not sure I could get the blade out

Give it a shot, the cbb lock is much more accepting of working with eachother, unlike with back locks, you can swap the blades only taking the pivot off, just use a little grease to hold the washers in place.

Sounds good, now that I know I can take the blade out with just the pivot I think I'll give it a go tonight when I get off work. I'll let y'all know how it went and whether it worked well or not. If it does I'll post some pictures of the finished product.

Okay, try as I may I just cannot seem to get the blade out of the blue lightweight version. I don't want to pry on the frcp and risk breaking it due to the fact I enjoy the knife so much. I just know that by getting this s30v blade on here I would like it that much more but its not worth harming the knife at all to get it to happen. Does anyone know of any magic trick to getting this blade out without harming the frcp scales? If so I would almost be willing to pay to hear it. Thanks in advance.

Did you try pulling the lock back while you pull the pivot out and then the blade out? I read you have to do that on some Benchmades when you take the blades out. Both have similar locks, so maybe that might work. There shouldn't be any reason why the blade won't come out tho...

Is the pivot even removable on the Manix2 Lightweight without destroying it? It's a pinned pivot, not a torx type.

The newer ones have a torx pivot, the older ones as all pinned, I'd say he has a newer one... Drew I only have a pinned LW now but I have a torx pivot LW on route and will try it when it arrives in a few days if you haven't got it by then.

Oh killer, good to know! Thanks for the info, I didn't know they had made the switch over to a removable type.

Cereal I appreciate it because try as I may I cannot get this blade out of here. It's completely driving me crazy! I just want my s30v lw. Is that so much to ask?

Hey CerealKiller has your torx pivot Manix came in yet?

Yea it just came Friday and this slipped my mind- unfourtinetly it doesn't come apart unless your prepaired to drill all the rivets and replace them. The reason for this is because instead of a standard pivot bolt it uses a pivot bushing (good for blade play, bad for disassembely).

You would have to either fully take it apart, or at the very least pry the scales apart farther than I'm comfy doing. Sorry for the false hope- it was a learning experience tho...

Well at least you helped all you could and I'm very thankful for that. I might still drill the rivets out eventually but for now I'll just love with two great knives.
