Manix 2 Blade Play

Hi all

I have a Manix 2 in M4 that ive had for a couple of weeks now, and it has a fair amount of blade play in the handle when it is folded and a little side to side play when it is open. I have heard that the closed play is fairly common in Manix 2s. I was wondering if there was any way I could fix it? Thanks!
 
Sounds like you need to tighten some handle screws: pivot pin, stop pin, etc.. Both my Manix 2's exhibit no bladeplay whatsoever.

If the pivot screw can be tightened to a point where it starts to get harder to open, then it's all about making tiny adjustments until you find a sweet spot. A tiny fraction of a turn can change tightness quite a bit. Using some blue loctite during adjustment will ensure it won't loosen up.

I got my M4 Manix 2 to where it still has free movement but no play.
 
The Manix2 should have a pivot with a bushing around it (similar to the Sebenza), so technically tightening the screws beyond a certain point should not be possible. I hope I am not mistaken.

As for the bladeplay - deal with it. It's a pocketknife, not a vault :p

I have handled *very* few pocketknifes without any play, it's basically just a matter of how picky you are. It's not big issue in a folding knife, especially bladeplay when closed wouldn't concern me at all.

The pivot "bushing" is not actually a sleeve around a pivot bolt. Instead, the Manix 2 has a stepped pivot bolt with shoulders that allows for a zero-friction pivot action.
 
Yes, and going with a Sebenza-type arrangement would likely require a substantial uptick in production costs and therefore selling prices.
 
I have to ask JNewell, what is that in your 'avatar'? I don't know if I should be disgusted or turned on or what. Just curious :)
