I just got my manix 2 in cpm m4 today. Its a great knife, my third manix 2, I have the standard 154 cm and sprint cts-xhp. My concern is its the thinnest of all these knives. Rather thin and tapering to a really sharp needle point. Im actually really worried about breaking it using it even somewhat hard. Should I be concerned? Or is the m4 strong enough to handle some hard use? It is quite a bit thinner than my cts xhp.

Wow,I havnt heard this before . Quite a turnoff .The owner of bark river says xhp is dam near as tough as a2 so I don't think they would add thickness to improve toughness.m4 is pretty tough in its own right but with any ffg knife I would suggest against any sort of prying. Can you post pics of the three ,over the top of blades?

Pics kind of help in these scenarios. Define "Using your knife hard"? Some people think that batonning the knife through concrete blocks is the measure of a knife. Others, the ability to cut and cut and cut without fatigue to your hand. These knives are designed to cut, not to pry. That is the biggest mistake new knife fanatics make. THey are under the mistaken assumption that if a knife is "good" it should withstand untold abuse, prying, hammering, twisting, etc. Not true.
Buy yourself a little $4 prybar and add it to your keychain. That should take care of any "prying needs". If you really want to have a knife to use hard buy yourself the Butch Vallotton knife. That should take care of any problems.

That doesn't sound right, I do not own one, but seems strange. And I agree with reddevil, you shouldn't be prying with many knives, I have pryed a bit with my Gayle Bradley, but only after a lot of moderately heavy use. I do not trust my knives for hard work until they go through some pretty tough work.

Not sure if I'll get around to pics, but i measured all three, the m4 at the tip is 0.040in, about 1/4 of the way up its about 0.085in. the cts is about 0.050 inches at the tip, and 0.095in. 1/4 of the way up. It just tapers quicker, and has a much thinner tip. I'll keep it, and use it, just with not as much confidence as the 154cm version. I use my knife at work, not to open boxes and mail, im a phone technician. Cutting dry wall and other relatively hard uses. And im a big hunter, i'll probably just use the m4 for my folding hunting knife. I just didnt expect it to be this thin, no big deal, i'll keep it for the steel. Backed by such a strong lock, I would think the manix would be up for some harder use. Maybe a hollow ground m4 version would be better for me.
