As the title says, what would be the consensus on getting the Manix 2 in either g10 with 110v steel vs the Lightweight version with Magnacut steel. Really interested in some opinions as I want to get one but not sure which.

Thanks in advance for your input!

To me that decision should be made more on what's important to you… weight savings or steel performance. Personally I would decide more on blade steel than weight. Not a manix guy (im a military fan) but S110V is gonna be highly wear resistant for cutting abrasive things and has reasonable corrosion resistance and toughness. Ive not hd a chip or rust with my 110V millie. The magnacut is designed with moderate toughness and wear resistance but high corrosion resistance. I feel like the magnacut is a more “all around” performer and is easily maintained.

S110V is more specialized and more work to maintain. (sharpening out a blunt or chip)

You absolutely have a good point. For what I’m looking for I think the Lightweight with Magnacut will suit my needs best. Thank you.

I have a G10 version and quite a few LW versions, I like the LW version best. Of course you can find high end steels in the LW models too- I recall S90V, S110V, Maxamet, M4, 4V, Rex45 off the top of my head. I think most people would be better off with Magnacut than S110V.

That’s good to know and confirms my selection bdmicarta, thank you.

Sal, thanks for the welcome. I started getting into EDC knives just a couple of years ago, but I have come to appreciate just recently what Spyderco is all about and doing and I like it. I just purchased my first Spyderco a couple of weeks ago (Sage 5 with Rex 121) and today I ordered a Manix 2 Lightweight with Magnacut and a Para 3 with s45vn steel. That is in addition to three other Spyderco knives I have preordered (Two Para 2 knives and another Sage 5). I am already out of control….and loving it. 😁
