Anyone know if there are any plans to put out an M4 Manix 2?

Also, how does the carpenter steel as planned for use in the Manix sprint run compare to s30V?

Thanks....

I'm curious about this stuff. I have two on preorder from Tom Berry. I'm looking forward to giving this steel a workout and I have high hopes for it considering the financial problems Crucible has had in the recent past.

Here is the description from the Cartech.com website:

Carpenter CTS-XHP Alloy (Micro-Melt® 440-XH® Alloy)

(Nominal Analysis)
1.60 C, 0.50 Mn, 0.40 Si, 16.00 Cr, 0.35 Ni, 0.80 Mo, 0.45 V, Bal. Fe

Air hardening, high carbon, high chromium, corrosion resistant alloy which can be described as either a high hardness Type 440C stainless steel or a corrosion resistant D2 tool steel. Possesses corrosion resistance equivalent to Type 440C stainless but can attain a maximum hardness of 64 HRC, approaching that of D2 tool steel. Now available in strip product form.

This proprietary alloy is in the Carpenter CTS™ family of alloys that offer superior edge retention and surface finish, an ability to be machined to a fine edge, and consistent heat-treatability from lot to lot. Consider CTS alloys for many blade applications including commercial food processing, paper processing, textile, packaging, recycling/refuse, kitchen knives, hand tools, scissors/shears, shaving razors, sport/hunting knives, ice skates, military/defense, law enforcement, salon blades and various surgical/medical applications.

I plan on buying the CTS run, but I would love to see an M4 M2 as well. I think the M2 makes a great test bed for steels, like how Sal has been using the Millie. Just an all around great folder with a very robust, yet pocketable design.

Well put ;)

I think the manix 2 is sort of a mule folder
It already has s90v. 154cm that cts steel and s30v

I wouldn't be surprised if we see m4. The carpenter steel does look intresting to me :D

Sounds good.

Just please use the lighter handle scales as on the S90V version.

On that note I wonder why the regular production run doesn't feature skeletonized liners? I think I'll ask on the Spyderco.com forum.
