Hi all, so I have an older Manix 2 LW with the pinned construction and it has noticeable side to side play. I bought it when they were first released along with a regular Manix 2 and PM2 so I haven't really carried it till recently. I was curious if this was normal due to there not being any liners? Has anyone else had this problem, and if so were you able to do anything to fix it? Any tips or replys are appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Nic, the only thing to do is possibly peen the pin that holds the pivot. Tricky situation, if struck incorrectly the results can be more wobble.

Thanks rev, the thought of using a punch on the pivot came into mind but without liners I was afraid of the frn breaking. I really like the weight, lock, and blade steel, but the play turns me off. I see they updated it with an adjustable pivot so I might have to pick up an updated one, as I don't see bladeplay being a warranty issue?

You could always ask Spyderco and see if they would be willing to help. It wouldn't hurt to ask.

I mean, what's the worst that can happen? They say no? I'm sure they would be willing to help!

If the pivot pin were peened and resulted in more blade play, then as a last resort could that pin be carefully drilled out and replaced with a screw like in the newer version?

Thanks for the input guys. I contacted customer service and they said to send it in and they will see if its covered or not. So some time in the next few weeks I'll do that and see how it goes.

Please report back!

This is the first report that I can recall of a LW Manix with this issue, so I'm curious... (Not doubting you, just curious)

I had slight blade play, because I was used to folders with stainless steel liners. Turned out that you can tighten pivot screw fairly tight without rough blade swing.

Year, blade play was gone after adjusting the pivot torx screw.
