On the CF S90V sprint run, though I'm sure it's the same as the standard version. What is the back spacer where the ball lock lives made out of? Seems like titanium to me, but I was just curious.

FYI I sanded mine down because I didn't like the two tone look and I think it looks/behaves like stainless steel. Mine's a very nice brushed finish now - matches the hardware and liners much better...

Yes, it must be stainless. Ti would not wear well in use for this component. (The backspacer also serves as a bearing surface for the ball on it's inside surface.)

I think I have mixed emotions about that being true, although a hardened steel will have higher wear resistance, titanium work hardens very well and might get harder than the steel when worked in.

I was hoping it was Ti, just so my knife had some on it, but either way it's a great knife, it is highly magnetic so it is high in iron.

That may be true, but one of it's other characteristics is that it galls against steel. That's a plus when it's used for a liner or Reeve lock, but might be a decided negative in a ball lock.

There's also cost. May not have been much of an issue on the S90V version, would definitely be one on the 154CM version since the main reason for using 154CM was cost control.
