Hey all, just got my first Manix 2! Its the new sprint run with CTS-BD30P. I love the knife in every way except for one, the lockup is extremely sticky to disengage. Is this a common trait among the Manix's? If so about how long does it take to break in?

Thanks,
Noah

I got mine in carpenters steel a few weeks ago. Just sit a evening with the knife and watch a movie, fiddle a bit around and it will open and close perfectly!

I agree with all the previous posts. It took about a week and then it was smooth. All the other edc knives hit the sock drawer when the Manix 2 showed up at my house. Great knife.

Thanks for all the reply's. I got nothin to do tonight, so I guess I'll just sit around and break it in. Really looking foreword to carrying it!

I have 5 manix 2s in all different flavors, and 4 have sticky locks which have never worn in.

The lock itself isn't sticky. The ball bearing doesn't stick at all. What causes the sticky disengagement is the little polymer post that the spring rides on. The only way to remedy the stickiness is to take the knife apart and sand the bottom of the post at a 45 degree angle so that it doesn't catch on the spring. I will make a youtube video to show how this is done soon.

Thanks, I'd love to see that video when you post it.

if you want to void your warranty thats a great route to go.

1. give it a week, carry it, use it.... it should break in.
2. if step 1 fails send it in to the spyderco spa and let them take care of it.

I would have to agree with everyone else, it doesn't take long, give it a few days of playing with. Mine wasn't too sticky, but after a day of playing its good to go :D

I have one of the sprint ones as well and it had a very sticky lock. It took about a week to break in. Now it's perfect.

I've been opening/closing/using it quite a bit, and it's not all better, but I can definitely tell a major difference. Thanks to all for the replys.
