Hey all

Guess who's loving regrinding?!?:D Really like how this one came out - I think I'll be getting one for my own pocket in the not too distant future!

After:

Added the swedge and took the edge down to 0.25mm behind the secondary bevel. Final finish was done on a 600 compound ceramic grit belt (lovely things)

Thanks for looking

Now it's a super slicer. Judging by the photo it's looks to be in the 0.005-0.010 behind the edge range. Nice work!

Haha - forgot to add that detail :) Measures 0.25mm behind the secondary bevel which is pretty much 0.010 - Good eye!

That tells me I need new belts haha. Compare your beautiful satin finish to mine lol... mine is 0.007 at 8dps or so

Yours looks good too. Fresh belts definitely make a difference for a consistent scratch pattern. A cork or scotch bright belt will help tie things in as well, but I've only made about a Dozen blades to date so I'm new.

I might have to send my Manix 2 because the edge looks horrible from the factory. Its sharp, but really uneven. If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost?

Hey Farcry33

To be honest mate - not really worth it considering it'll be shipped to and from Africa - that alone will set you back about $60 :) I charge $50 for the grind itself so it adds up quick - probably better off hunting down another Manix - then you'll have 2!

Travis - nice grind bud and super slicey edge! - I love sharp belts :D The compound ceramics I used came from a company called Pferd - bought 10 of them, 2 years ago and I still haven't finished them! I just re-dress them from time to time with a diamond file as the belt runs. My grit progression was :

Sharp 60 grit (ceramic)
Dull 80 grit (ceramic)
320 grit (compound ceramic - looks coarser than my 60 grits!)
600 grit (compound ceramic again)

Hey Gareth Bull,

Funny thing is I did buy 2. I messed up sharpening on the first one and now I'm practicing on cheaper knives. I wish Spyderco would contact you so you can do their knives, maybe even sprint runs.
