I got aftermarket scales for my Manix 2. I tried to take the stock scales off and can't get the screws to budge. I tried a hairdryer on hot and they still wouldn't budge. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have a soldering iron you can use the tip to heat the screw. Try it for a few seconds, then try turning. Increase the heating time incrementally until the screw comes loose. Don't get in a rush, but don't get too carried away with the heat either.

First be sure you use high quality bits I prefer Wiha ... and be sure they get seated all the way into the screw head.

If you have a soldering iron try using the tip held on the screw for a few seconds and see if you can get the screws loose then. Depending on the soldering iron it may take a bit longer but should loosen any loctite on the hardware.

I wanted to thank you again. You were spot on about the quality bits. I used my dewalt bits and they broke free without heating up.
