Question:

I own a Manix 2 with G10 and the Manix 2 with the translucent blue scales. I was really surprised that they do not share the same smoothness in how the deploy and close. The translucent blue is very tight and is much harder to close one handed. Is this normal?

Mine was smooth out of the box, the lock was a little tight though. After breaking it in a few weeks it became easier to close one handed. Give it some time and it should become smooth, perhaps some lube on the pivot can speed that up.

The blue flavor is also riveted at the pivot, whereas the standard model has an adjustable screw. So perhaps in assembly they are going to slightly err on the side of tightness with the rivet, as it cannot be tightened later. I agree that it should smooth out and loosen up a little after you flip it open 19,000 times.

Try a bit of oil on the pivot as well. Mine broke in nicely, but a couple drops seemed to help.

Funny thing my Blue was much smoother than my Sprint Manix was. The blue gets used a lot more tho- it just disappears weight wise.

My blue one is super smooth.. I really enjoy the knife.. Great EDC, that really grows on you.

I think I paid 50.00 for it, and feel it's well worth the money.

I wonder if I should send mine back for another. I just got it friday but can barely push the spring down to close it with one hand. Really love it otherwise.

Had both Manix 2 and the translucent. I got the translucent because I love blue and I figured the lightweight would be cool to have...Nope, I hated it. It wasn't nearly as smooth as the Manix 2. Also for some reason I didn't think that it would not be as sturdy feeling. not sure why

The blade on my blue Manix 2 is just the way I like them, it doesn't swing free like a garden gate, but it moves with buttery smoothness under finger pressure. As for the lock, I've yet to own a caged ball lock that can be released easily with just my thumb, or just my forefinger. They work fine if I use both and I'd say the one on the FRCP Manix 2 is about average, neither notably better, or worse, than others.

right, its a two finger operations, no doubt about it. My black sprint manix was like two finge3rs and you really had to heave it. My orange sprint manix was butter as is my P'kal
