Manix 2 vs 2xl blade.

I'm torn between the two knives. I know one is basically a bigger version, but somewhere I saw a video where the xl had a full flat grind and the regular one had a saber grind. It was a little older vid. Is this still the case? I can't tell from the pics I find from my phone.
 
Both have a flat grind now. The XL is just bigger, thicker, and a little heavier. Great knife, just maybe used for different tasks IMO
 
Well I have a pm2 on order and I really like the size of it. I cant decide which one of the Manix I should get.
 
I would get the standard manix 2 unless you have particularly large hands. I like the manix 2 regular size and the PM2 fits my hand very well with some room to spare.
 
That's kinda what I was thinking. I held a manix of some sort before I knew there was two sizes. Now I'm not sure which one it was. [emoji15]
 
You probably held the standard size version. The XL is enough bigger that it looks pretty big but it isn't heavy or thick. For most people I think the standard size is about right. It is reasonably interchangeable with the PM2 sizewise, but it is a little bit heavier. I have both and I like both, or rather I have all 3. Here are some comparison photos:

I see what you're saying. I bet you're right, I didn't see the manix I handled and think "dang that's a big knife." They all will be bigger than my current one, I carry an Ambitious daily now.
 
I much prefer the XL myself, and I don't think it's any heavier than the standard Manix. Wouldn't part with my XL, it's an awesome folder. Both XL and standard Manix are FFG now.
IMO the XL is one Spydie that carries much better with a deep carry clip, and I find the clip you see gives my fingers something to grip on that large handle , making it easy to flip closed one handed.

You guys sure are touchy about your manis xl's. LOL. I meant when closed the knife is pretty wide, and it is, much wider than a para 2 closed. While only an ounce heavier it is still 20% heavier than a regular manix2. Guys I love my manix knives and have both. I was just stating the differences.

All good, I was just offering the OP my own opinion having used both. I have 5 Para2's and carry them more often than the XL, though the XL is what I often carry at work. It's a beasty folder.

BTW, there's only a 0.3 ounce difference between the XL and the standard FFG Manix.
The Cru-Wear sprint Manix is lighter, with it's milled out liners.
 
Love the XL, but both fit large hands pretty well. I wear XXL gloves and can handle both pretty easily. If you have really mammoth paws I would look at a Military rather than an XL as the hook on the back of the handle is pretty pronounced. It's comfy for me, but there's not room to spare.
 
I think my hands may be a bit bigger than some. I only wear a xl glove.

Yes it sure is. That is the only thing negative I can say about it. I was carrying my CF version at my office today and used it to slice up my sandwich and banana at lunch. I carry the knife clipped in my tight jeans pocket along with my cellphone and they barely fit together. It would be difficult for me to put my hand in that pocket while the knife is clipped there. I still like mine and I still carry them in my rotation.
 
Love the manix 2. I have the black with g10 and it is plenty big. Just feels solid. The knife is relatively new to me but the other day I thought it opened in my pocket.. I had that hmm moment thinking this was the 1st time this has ever happened, Then I realized it was just that wide sitting in my pocket. LOL.
