Manix 2 VS. Sage 3

Forgive me if this has already been debated but I just got a plain edge Manix 2 today which I'm really happy with. However, I also have both the Sage 1 and 2 and am debating on getting number 3 but don't feel I "need" it right now if its close to the Manix 2 in performance and design. Does anyone own both of them and what are your feelings on both? Cheers.

The Bolt Lock is similar to the CBBL, and the blade shape of the Manix is similar to that of the Sage, but they really are different knives. I really, really like the mechanism of the Bolt Lock, but in the real world of EDC it doesn't offer any advantages (or disadvantages) in comparison. It's a bit easier to manipulate with just your thumb, but in actual use I almost always use thumb and forefinger together to close any lock of this type, even the Axis.

I'd say the Sage 3 is a fantastic bluejeans knife, where the Manix 2 is more of a work knife. If you thought that the Sage 2 was a worthwhile knife to own even though you already had the first Sage, it stands to reason you'd like the Collins just as much. (Maybe more...)

This is a question I've been considering as well. For those who own both knives, how do the scale texture and ergonomics (jimping, handle size, etc.) compare?

The Sage 3 handle has very similar texture compared to the Manix 2. As for size, it's more compact in size but with pretty similar ergonomics. I go back and forth and aside from the weight and size, I am comfortable with both.

The lack of jimping around the handle and the closed back makes the Sage 3 more comfortable to hold bare handed. With the Manix 2, I would want some gloves for prolonged and heavy cutting tasks. I also prefer the wire clip on the Sage 3 to the normal hourglass clip on the Manix 2.

I'm agree. The Sage 3 is much more confortable for hard chores than the Manix 2. It's the most confy of all Sages IMHO.

If you like the size of the Sage (based on the 1 and 2) and like the general ergonomics of the Manix 2, then the Sage 3 is pretty close to being a baby Manix 2.

I'd prefer the manix myself mainly because i prefer larger folders however Taiwan made spydercos such as the sage series are some of the highest quality knives they make.

Although I'm not the original poster, thanks for your opinions, they help a lot. Now it seems I have to add a Sage 3 to my collection. I'm already a big fan of the Sage 1.

The Sage 3 has a solid G10 blue backspacer, very confortable in case of hard chores !

Thanks for your thoughts guys! Looks like I'll be getting a Sage 3 soon. I also want another Manix 2 in black this time. Just because I can, lol.
