Manix 2 XL lock rock.

I just got my new Manix 2 xl yesterday, and today I noticed that it has very slight up and down play. Is this normal? Will it break in, and go away? I haven't even used it yet. There is no side to side play just a touch of up and down. Any help with this is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just checked mine, it's solid as a rock.... might want to contact spyderco about this, they will do right by you.

Nah. It's not worth it. I got it locally, so I'm just gonna return it.

Got my XL in 2012, used it a lot and it has zero up/down play to this day.

I'm pretty sure I got a Lemon. I just don't trust that little ball bearing in a plastic cage barely riding on the blade tang with the blade moving up and down. It's an accident waiting to happen. That's why I'm gonna return it.

That knife should not have any up and down play due to the stop pin. The lock is a very strong lock, one of the best and far better than a liner or frame lock.

I'd bet a few hard cuts would seat everything real nice like and the lock rock would go away

It's a really strong lock. That's why it's used on the P'Kal.

^^^^^^^ Edit to my original post: kniferbro was right. After using the knife for a while everything has settled in, and it has solid lockup now. It has quickly become my edc of choice.

I have the S30 and the S90 and both are as solid as a rock.
