manix 2 xl or ffg 189 zdp endura

Having handled both, I would choose the endura. Lighter, backlock, better steel.

I love my ZDP endura. I wish it had black scales though. (yes I know the options for changing)

I just got the Manix 2 XL and am loving it, great hand filling handle, more solid feeling, won't develop blade play overtime.

you going to experience more chipping with zdp
i would think about what your using the knife for. i love my manix xl

I doubt that you could go wrong with either. I think that these knives are sufficiently different as Jim mentioned, as to require some careful thought as to your application.

A normal endura has never given me a problem. I don't see why I would ever need the zdp version.

Having the XL, I'm confident to say it's a keeper. I can't get it out of my pocket.

Well, The Endura Is A Great Knife - Lightweight, Good Lock, Good Steel, And Just Good Everything.
The Only Issue Being That If You Use It For A Really Long Time It's Likely To Develop Play In The Blade, ZDP-189 Is A Pretty Brittle Steel, And Is Known For Getting Stains And Patinas And Easily Rusting.

The Manix 2 XL Is - Thicker, A Little Heavier, Great Grade Of Steel, Smooth Awesome Lock System, G-10 Handles - Could Handle Abuse A Lot Better, Less Likely To Get Blade Play, Won't Rust Nearly As Easy, And Really Is Just Good Overall.
Plus It's A Bit Wider So It'll Fill The Hand Better And Has A Wider Blade For More Cutting Room.

Or You Could Just Get A Paramilitary 2 Lol.

Ideally, Manix 2XL in ZDP-189 if it ever happens.. Although, Endura ZDP-189 is one of the very few Spydercos I have and actually like.

im a colector and dont us my knives all that often i carry them still tho. i really like the manix xl cuz i have the manix 2 sprint in bd30p and they make a nice pair:thumbup:
blade a lil off center tho

If you like ZDP-189, you are going to be very hard-pressed to find another 3.75" FFG slicer blade of that steel and that quality for ~$94 from anywhere else.

You just have to follow the ZDP-189 rules, and don't chip the blade. It's hard and it slices fantastic, but it's somewhat brittle because of that. But if you like "scary sharp" it's great!
Also, it tends to stain with acid from some foods.
I'll be getting an Endura with ZDP-189 FFG. It's a fantastic knife for the price.

I don't know where people get the idea that ZDP-189 is "chippy". As long as you don't put a really acute edge angle on the endura4 ZDP and you use the knife for it's designed purpose, you will have no problems at all.
