Manix 2 XL or ParaMilitary 2 - Which to get next??

I have been looking at both the Manix 2 XL and the ParaMilitary 2 in black on black - which one should be my next Spyderco? :confused:
 
You should have done a poll. Para wins by a narrow margin on the forum and a wide one with me.
 
The XL is just an XL in size compared to
a PM2.

PM2 wins
 
Between the Manix 2 and Para 2 I usually have a Para 2 in my pocket. They are very close in size. Comparing the Para 2 and XL is somewhat like apples to oranges. The XL and Military are more comparable. For the longest time I didn't want a Para 2 because of how talked up they were, but I got one and finally saw the light. My vote goes with Para 2.
 
Para 2!! I had one that i sold to fund other knives but missed it so much i just bought another.
 
If you prefer larger knives then get the manix XL. I prefer a larger knife so between the two I would go with the XL. However I own the PM2 and not the XL for the reason that I decided I should have snagged a satin/digi cam PM2 while knifecenter had them in stock around Christmas time.
 
I own both, I guess it depends on what you like and usage.
The XL certainly takes up more pocket and the peep's get wide eyed
when it comes out.
The PM2 is very manageable and seems to handle most chores easy enough.
They're both good cutters, these day's I carry a Gayle Bradly and switch to
the XL once in a while.
 
I have the manix 2 and the para 2 and I've never carried the manix. I had a Manix 2 XL and i thought it was really cool. Still my EDC has always been a plain jane black & Satin para 2 or a millie. I would highly recommend the Manix 2 if you have the means. It's a great knife.
 
I think the PM2 is more carryable, but the XL is actually my favorite Spyderco design. Um...get both (PM2 first)!
 
I prefer the way the Manix 2XL fits my hand...unfortunately, mine is a peel ply CF that feels horrid TO ME, so it just sits until I convince myself to spend the money on new scales.
I really want to like the PM2, and feel like I should for several reasons....but it's just not quite right. I think a scale change could do wonders for this, too; but I'm tired of chasing that dream (the one in which I like a PM2 as much as other people seem to).
 
Yep, Para2 by far. I have both, would not consider selling either. The Para2 is practical for every day carry, the XL is a beast that you feel when you are carrying it so it stays home.
 
I have to suggest handling them. The feel in hand is important to me. I don't have a Manix2 XL, but the grip looks alot like my Chinook. Which feels like it was made for my hand, and I like much more than my Paramilitary.




The Manix2 XL isn't that big. All three of these are within one or two sixteenth of each other.
 
Manix 2XL was a great heavy duty knife, used it tons camping but never carried it EDC just too bulky. Ended up selling it. I would go Para2.

The size difference is minimal. Mostly individual perception.
The Manix2 XL is over an ounce heavier because it has a full liner. Overall length is less than a half inch, and it's at the back of the grip. The blade looks bigger because it's stouter to the tip. Their nearly the same length.

Handle them and make an informed decision, unless you want us to tell you what to get.
 
I just ordered a PM2 black on black. My first spyderco ever. I almost bought a Manix 2 in cruware at the gun show and thought I might check the interweb first on prices. It was priced right but I ran by someone's post here that knifeworks was having a sell on PM2's so now I'm just impatiently waiting on it to ship.
