Hi all,
Recently received a Manix 2 XL. I am already an owner of a regular Manix and am really thrilled with the XL version... it will be a perfect outdoors knife.

However I've been wanting to tighten up the pivot just a bit, the blade swings closed just a bit too freely when the lock is released. Anyone know what size torx the pivot screw on the XL is?

T10 has just a bit of play, but I tried to tighten it down with that anyways and it seems the pivot is already quite tight; I didn't want to try further for fear of damaging the pivot torx head.

I am assuming T11 would be perfect but none of my torx kits have that and is even difficult to find online.

Any one know for sure what the size is?

Thanks

I don't have a Manix 2 XL but, AFAIK, there's no such a thing as a T-11 Torx wrench. Everything I've read says the next size up from T-10 is T-15. A T-10 driver would have more than just a little play in a T-15 screw, so you might want to try a different T-10 wrench.

Hi Deacon.

Thanks for your reply. Sounds like you are correct, as most of my kits go T10->T15 with nothing in between. The problem is T10 is slightly loose and T15 won't fit. I have tried 2 T10 screwdrivers(craftsman brand) and they are both just a bit loose in the bolt.

Perhaps it's just me, I tried a T9 on the clip and that has a bit of play too. Just seems to me torx always had better fitment than this. As long as the consensus is that the pivot should be a T10 torx I will give that another shot with one on each side, hopefully no strippage occurs.

You could also try cheating ;) and fold a sliver of aluminum foil over the tip of the T-10 bit.

What type of Torx set do you have? There is a lot of difference between sets depending on where they come from. Home Depot has a Husky set that is cheap and good quality.

I have a Craftsman bit kit with 2x T10 and those were the first two I tried, both slightly loose.

Now I tried a Husky Tamper proof T10 and it has even more play than the Craftsman T10.

Well after a day of having the knife including giving it a wash(mostly blade and handle, but some got in lock) and some pocket time, the ball lock mechanism is no longer super slick/smooth and comparable to my regular manix, which is great. So I won't be trying to tighten the pivot, but still curious about the torx size for the future.
