Has the Manix 2 XL been released with any steel other than S30V? Any alternate sprint runs or anything? I cant find any info about it.

There is an exclusive Knife Works run coming up later this year with a CPM-S90V blade & Peel Ply Carbon Fiber Handle. But, AFAIK, no specific date has been announced yet.

I'm happy with the S30V. I'd like to see some different scale options, though. Different colored G10 would make me moist.

Have some handles made? I have never understood why people want to buy another knife just because it has different color handles. Steel yes, handles, no. "look at me I have 6 of the same knife but with different color handles"

That's true, but steel snobs who don't use their knives are probably worse lol.

It has come in at least 5 that I know of. Foilage Green handles with CTS-XHP steel, Tan handles with M4 steel, orange handles with S30v, Stag Arms, 154cm or S30v, not sure, but dark green handles and black hollow ground blade, and the EDC forums Moonglow Manix, GITD handles with s30v IIRC.

^ I think you might be referencing to the manix2 not the XL version. BUt those do look nice of course!

And yeah another handle option would be cool as well, it seems 80 percent of my knives are just black. Buying aftermarket scales is a pain in the ass and can get real expensive. I like the "build your own knife" thing benchmade does on their website, would love that with spyderco. Especially because of the real great steel theyve used in the past.

Ah you are correct. My bad. Guess I didn't read the original post closely enough.

Not only that, but all the other versions are outrageously overpriced now. I wish they'd stop being gay with these sprint runs and just produce these variations.

There is a difference between collection pieces and users. Watch your language, this is a family friendly forum. If you want to smack talk and be cool, take it to Whine and Cheese.

Recent evidence would suggest about mid-2014. KW has hinted that they won't do pre-orders anymore so there is a possibility that there will be another website meltdown and the scammers will win out again.

When did that happen? Was there a bunch of fake orders or something? Ive been away from the forums for about a year so im still getting up to date on whats gon on.

He's talking about flippers, people who buy a ton of knives only to resell them at higher prices, leaving less for the Spyderco fans.

"KW has hinted that they won't do pre-orders anymore"

The reason is they cant say when the knives will be in.
Some pre order folks get up-set and take it out on the ones who got the thing rolling in the 1st place.
Just not worth the drama. The (2) per person limit keeps flippers at bay.

The Manix2 XL was requested at the 2012 Shot show. To give an idea how hard it is to put a date on these types of runs.
But, it is going to be a beast of a knife. One I have wanted for almost 2 yrs.

It would make a nice Xmas present. But who knows? :)

I've held off getting a Manix 2 XL in hopes that I could find a spirit run I liked. Looks like this is it! The site still has it listed as "Expected 3 Quarter 2013," so fingers crossed. Shame they're not taking pre-orders.

I am emailing Santa right now to please put 2 of the KW Manix XL S91V on my X-mas list. Please get the pre-order up before the last minute holiday rush.I will ask Santa to make sure that the fine folks at KW have a very happy and pleasant vacation in 2014.I hope my letter works.

The Manix2 XL is such a great working blade, I'd like to see it in some steels that can really dish it out. Maybe M4 or CPM 3V. M390 would be a special treat, too. :)
